See also the suggested charter for democracy at https://myge2019.wordpress.com/2020/01/31/charter-for-democracy-in-the-labour-movement-january-2020/ . In the space of a motion it is possible only to include a few main points.
We call on the National Executive to bring forward rule-changes for democracy in the Labour Party, including:
Making it clear that conference determines policy and what is included in the manifesto.
Establishing the right to diversity of opinion within broad Labour values, and the right to organise political groupings within the party.
Letting Young Labour have its own democratic constitution, decided by its conference.
Ensure adequate notice of and accessible information about Labour Parrty decision-making. All conference documents should be published as far in advance of/as soon after meetings as possible. NEC agendas, papers and minutes should be published, outside exceptional cases.
Automatic “open selections” for all parliamentary candidates before each election.
