Suggested text for motions on Tories’ immigration plans, February 2020

We resolve to oppose the Tory government’s proposals for new restrictions on immigration. We call on the Labour Party leadership to oppose those plans and to campaign for the policies agreed by Labour Party conference 2019, including:
● Campaign for free movement, equality and rights for migrants.
● Close all detention centres.
● Ensure unconditional right to family reunion.
● Maintain and extend free movement rights.
● End “no recourse to public funds” policies.
● Extend equal rights to vote to all UK residents
We will send our support to the Labour Campaign for Free Movement, circulate its statement (labourfreemovement.org) to our members to sign, urge our representatives to support the above policies, and invite a speaker from the campaign to a meeting in the near future.
